Tag: FUTUR

Every morning, we lean into the day ahead without ever thinking about it. That simple move rests on a certainty we almost never question: the future doesn’t exist yet, it waits to be filled in like a blank page.

What if it were the other way around?

In my new article, I trace back an idea that makes your head spin, one that physics and philosophy have been wrestling with for a century. From Einstein’s relativity and his block universe, where past, present and future coexist, all the way to Everett’s many worlds, by way of Leibniz, Bergson and the paradox of freedom.

The time we think we live in a straight line would be a construction. Useful, impossible to shake off, but a construction all the same. Which leaves a question that neither physics nor philosophy truly settles: if every possible future already exists, what does choosing still mean?

A piece for those who lie awake over time, consciousness and free will.
